Orientation serves as the official kickoff of your on-campus experience here at Ohio Dominican. Participation in New Student Orientation is required for all incoming first-year students. See below for information about registration and what to expect!

What to Expect

During Orientation, we'll make sure that you have everything you need to start your year off right at Ohio Dominican! We're talking crucial info that will help you get ready for this exciting new chapter in your life. Hear from campus leaders about life at ODU and the resources you'll have available to you to help you thrive in and out of the classroom, from day one all the way to graduation.

Orientation is also a fantastic opportunity to meet your fellow incoming Panthers — students like you that may become your future classmates, roommates, teammates and friends. Not to mention, you'll meet some of our amazing faculty and staff who will be there for you every step of your ODU journey.

And don't worry, new Panther parents and families, we've got you covered! Our orientation sessions are designed to ensure that both our new students and their families have the resources they need.

8 a.m. – Check-In and Resource Fair | Griffin Student Center, first floor
Pick up your orientation materials and review your orientation checklist with your admission counselor. Visit the Resource Fair, where you can explore student services and discover ways to get involved on campus. Enjoy a light breakfast on the second floor of the Griffin Student Center, just outside rooms 258-260.

8:30 a.m. – Welcome, Opening Prayer, Our Catholic & Dominican Identity | Griffin Student Center, rooms 258-260
Opening remarks will be given by Dean Thomas. Meet your orientation leaders and learn about the rich history  of ODU, our founding congregation—the Dominican Sisters of Peace—and our Dominican traditions,  presented by Dr. Robert Parks.

9:15 a.m. – Living the Mission: Common Core to Common Good | Spangler Learning Center
Learn about our Common Core theme: What is the Common Good? Hear from a student, a sister, and a  faculty panel as they share how they live out this theme at ODU.

10 a.m. – Financing Your Education | Griffin Student Center, rooms 258-260
Financing college can feel overwhelming. Our Business Office staff will provide helpful information about the billing process at ODU.

10:30 a.m. – Academic Resources for Success | Griffin Student Center, rooms 258-260
Discover key academic resources, including textbooks, technology, library services, tutoring, and  accessibility services, in a session led by Dr. Lindsey Mason, Executive Director of Instructional Resources.

11 a.m. – Panther to Panther | Location determined by Orientation Leader
Make connections that count. Meet your orientation leader and learn about life outside the classroom.  Meet faculty and learn about life inside the classroom.

Noon – Course Schedule Review | Griffin Student Center, rooms 258-260
Obtain your course schedule and ensure it’s complete.

12:30 p.m. – Closing | Griffin Student Center, rooms 258-260
Join Dean Thomas for closing remarks. Raffle winner will be announced, and students and families may  pick up their orientation T-shirts. Campus offices will remain open for questions and assistance.
