Building on and integrated with a liberal arts base, the curriculum of the Social Work major is presented from a generalist, ecological perspective that prepares students for entry level professional practice working with individuals, families, groups, agencies and communities. 

The course of study emphasizes assisting students to achieve an understanding of the knowledge and attitudes needed in order that the social worker can interact effectively across social and cultural diversity.

The major includes content in the following five areas: human behavior and the social environment; social welfare policies and services; practice methods; research; and field work.

The Ohio Dominican University baccalaureate degree in social work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Commission on Accreditation.
