Work-Study Opportunities
At ODU, you'll find a variety of part-time jobs on and off campus available to students who qualify.
The Federal Work-Study Program provides part-time employment for undergraduate students that demonstrate financial need in accordance with federal guidelines, allowing them to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.
- Federal Work-Study wages will be at least the current minimum wage, but may be higher according to the type of work you do and the skills required.
- Work-study positions are not grants that are directly applied to one's tuition bill. Rather, work-study earnings are paid biweekly based on the number of hours worked.
- Income earned through the Work-Study Program is not exempt from federal or state taxation. Therefore each student must complete the appropriate documentation prior to starting to work.
- Only students that have been awarded work-study as part of their financial aid are eligible to apply for work-study positions

How to Apply for Work Study
A student establishes eligibility for participation in the Federal Work-Study Program by completing the FAFSA.
There are jobs open throughout the year from entry-level positions through greater
responsibilities and skills.

In order to be paid for hours you have worked, it is critical that you complete your
timecards on time. Without a timecard, your supervisor is unable to approve your time and
you may not be paid until the following pay period.
