Required Rotations

PAS 901 - Family Medicine

This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an ambulatory/outpatient or clinic setting. The purpose of the Family Medicine SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience in working with ambulatory patients seeking preventative care or who present with acute or chronic disease. The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


PAS 902 - Emergency Medicine
This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an Emergency Department. The purpose of the Emergency Medicine SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience working with acute and emergent patient presentations.  The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


PAS 903 - Internal Medicine
This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an inpatient or outpatient setting. The purpose of the Internal Medicine SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience in working with patients who present with acute or chronic disease or to provide preventative care.  The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


PAS 904 - Women's Health
This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an inpatient or outpatient setting. The purpose of the Women’s Health SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience working with the patient who presents with acute or chronic disease or seeking preventative care commonly encountered in women’s health and/or obstetrics.  The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


PAS 905 - Pediatrics
This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an inpatient, outpatient or ambulatory care setting. The purpose of the pediatric SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience in working with pediatric patients who present with acute or chronic diseases or seeking preventative care. The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

PAS 906 - Surgery
This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in a surgical setting. The purpose of the Surgery SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experiences working with patients presenting with a surgical condition in the intra-operative setting. Students may also gain experience in the pre-operative and post-operative setting. The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


PAS 907 - Behavioral Medical

This Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) takes place in an inpatient, outpatient, or ambulatory care setting.  The purpose of the Behavioral Medicine SCPE is to provide the student with practical clinical experience in working with patients presenting with acute or chronic behavioral health conditions.  The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments completed outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


Non-Core Rotations

PAS 909, 910, 911, and 912 
Each Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPE) takes place in an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, or surgical setting. The Non-core SCPE provides the student with practical clinical experience working with patients presenting in a complementary medical field seeking preventative, acute, chronic, or emergent care. The experience also includes course instruction and course assessments which students complete outside of clinical hours.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.


Professional Development

PAS 950 - Transition to Practice
This course is taken in the final semester of the Clinical phase and incorporates program determined testing and assessments, various learning modules, lectures, and presentations as components of the student’s summative evaluation.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all courses in the didactic phase and continued good standing in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.
