“We are pleased to welcome this strong group of scholars to the ODU community, 60% of whom are also student athletes across 7 different sports,” said John Marazita, Ph.D., Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Honors Program Director. “ODU Honors Program students have distinguished themselves as highly engaged leaders on campus who excel in the classroom, research and creative endeavors, and in external internship and field work experiences. Many also support other campus offices and student organizations in a variety of capacities. Twenty-four seniors are immersed in original, scholarly capstone projects in the fields of biology, business, computer science, criminal justice, education, environmental science, exercise science, finance, history, political science, psychology, and sport management. The 2025-26 academic year promises to be a busy, productive, and fun one!”
ODU’s Honors Program is designed to enrich the academic experience of talented and motivated students. It is a community of learners who seek to develop their love of learning, deepen their understanding of significant issues, express their creativity, and engage in independent scholarly, scientific, and artistic endeavors. Participants have access to separate living and learning spaces; opportunities for close mentorship with faculty in related academic disciplines; an invitation to participate in collaborative research with faculty; and an ability to participate in extracurricular programming.
