Ohio Dominican University student Ruth Kamanga recently took part in the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women panel discussion, taking part in a global virtual discussion focused on leadership and decision-making in civil society.
The session brought together leaders and advocates to discuss critical issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Kamanga contributed to the conversation emphasizing the importance of moving beyond symbolic representation toward the development of substantive policies that foster meaningful change. The forum highlighted the need for strong governance frameworks, greater accountability, and strategic collaboration to enhance decision-making structures and increase women’s participation.
Kamanga’s involvement reflects ODU’s commitment to fostering global awareness and empowering students to engage in meaningful dialogue around social justice and leadership.
