Ohio Dominican University (ODU) proudly celebrated the achievements of its third cohort of Anesthesiologist Assistant Studies (AAS) Masters of Science students during the White Coat Ceremony on February 28, 2025. The event, a significant milestone in the journey toward a career in medicine, marked the transition of 25 students into the clinical phase of their education.
Hosted by the AAS Program faculty and team, the ceremony began with an opening prayer by Emily Strand, director of campus ministry, followed by a warm welcome from AAS Program Director, Aaron Grabovich. ODU’s Acting President Dr. Shonna Riedlinger and Health Science Chair Cameron Powell delivered inspiring remarks. Additionally, the cohort’s elected President and Vice President, Julian Tugaoen and Nathan Pelino made an address.
Dr. Chris Mitchell spoke on the significance of the white coat, a symbol of professionalism, responsibility, and the commitment to patient care. He and Aaron Grabovich, had the honor of coating each student, with some receiving their coats from family members in healthcare. Notably, Alice Tun was coated by her sister, ODU Physician Assistant alum Rosemary Tun, highlighting the university’s strong tradition of fostering healthcare professionals.
The ceremony concluded with a Program Oath and Professional Oath, led by AAS Assistant Program Director Tara Goins, reaffirming the students’ dedication to ethical practice and lifelong learning.
The event served as a testament to ODU’s commitment to excellence in health sciences education, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to the field of medicine.
