Dr. Martin joined the faculty at Ohio Dominican University in 2022, and brought with him 18 years of experience as a chemistry professor. He describes himself as a physical-organic photochemist who studies small, biologically active molecules. To put it simply, he is very curious about how light interacts with small molecules that may have an impact on living organisms. This places him at the crossroads of many different chemistry disciplines and even other sciences including biology, physics and engineering.   

From 2004-2022, Dr. Martin raised through the ranks at Lamar University to achieve the rank of Full Professor of Chemistry. While at LU, he taught 21 different courses (primarily organic chemistry), advised 10 Master’s theses, mentored over 50 undergraduate students in research and participated in numerous funded research projects. As a faculty member at LU, he authored or co-authored 21 peer-reviewed publications in a wide variety of areas including physical-organic chemistry, theoretical chemistry calculations, chemical education, bio-organic photochemistry and chemical engineering.
