    Welcome new Panthers! Your ODU experience begins with Orientation in the summer and continues through fall with Move-In Weekend and ODU's Weeks of Welcome activities.


    ODU's two-day Orientation is the kickoff for your college experience. You’ll meet other students, register for classes and experience life at Ohio Dominican. Attendance at orientation is required for all new students. 

    Please register for ONE of our three identical Orientations:

    • May 16-17. Register by May 9.
    • June 19-20. Register by June 13.
    • July 18-19. Register by July 11.

    In addition to making new friends, meeting faculty and exploring campus, you’ll take care of details like taking your ID photo and buying books.

    Social activities and an overnight stay in the residence halls will introduce you to ODU’s vibrant campus community. (What should I bring with me?)

    For parents and family members, orientation provides the resources and knowledge about Ohio Dominican that will help them support their student throughout their college years.

    Schedule Overview - Parents & Family Members

    During ODU orientation, parents receive information about tuition, billing and financial assistance, academic advising and registration, health and safety, and valuable support services for their student.

    Parents’ activities and workshops run from check-in on Day 1 until 9 p.m. and resume the next morning. Parents and family members can stay on campus in a residence hall or make their own off-campus accommodations.

    Accommodations for Parents & Guests

    Parents and family members are welcome to stay in the Residence Halls, at a local hotel, or commute from home to campus.

    Staying on Campus 

    Parents and family members may stay overnight on campus on Day 1 in Lynam Hall. Each room includes two twin-sized beds. 

    The cost is $30 per room if you bring your own linens and towels, and $45 per room if ODU provides linens and towels for you. In either situation, please bring your own pillow(s) and toiletries.

    You can register for a room on campus when you register for Orientation and pay by check or cash when you arrive. Or you can contact ODU's Student Development office at (614) 251-4595 to reserve a room. Deadline to reserve a room is the Friday before Orientation.

    Hotel Information 

    A block of rooms are being held at the Courtyard by Marriott (614) 475-8530 and Staybridge Inn & Suites (614) 473-9888. Please call the hotels directly to make reservations and mention you are with Ohio Dominican University.

    What Should I Bring to Orientation?

    Students should bring:

    • Notebook and pen or pencil
    • Comfortable clothing and shoes
    • Linen for twin-size bed and a pillow
    • Toiletries, including soap and towel
    • Umbrella (just in case)
