COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Dominican University’s (ODU) men’s and women’s soccer coaches will host three soccer camps for boys and girls this summer at Panther Field, located at ODU’s main campus of 1216 Sunbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43219.

The Panther Youth Soccer Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 7 to 14. It will introduce the game to beginners, and help more experienced players sharpen their skills and knowledge. The camp is scheduled for June 15 to June 18. Early registration is recommended by June 1. “The (youth) camps bring a challenging and valuable experience to the younger soccer player. The campers will gain a competitive spirit while having fun at the same time,” said William Merrick, ODU’s head men’s soccer coach. Prior to joining the University, Merrick was the head varsity soccer coach at Thomas Worthington High School. He also played professional soccer for seven years.

The month-long Panther 4v4 Youth Soccer League, tailored for boys and girls ages 7 to 10, will give players more touches on the ball than they would experience in the traditional 11v11 games, which helps them develop their dribbling, passing and kicking skills more quickly. The league will begin March 25 and conclude on April 29. Early registration is recommended by March 16. “The ODU youth soccer league and camp gives our athletes and coaching staff an opportunity to build solid relationships within the surrounding community by providing quality instruction and positive role models to the local players,” said Jonathan Meade, ODU’s head women’s soccer coach. Meade has 10 years of collegiate coaching experience. He completed his master’s of science in sports coaching from the United States Sports Academy.

The Elite Development Soccer Camp is geared to help players ages 15 to 18 hone their technical skills and develop winning mental strategies through individual and advanced team play. The camp will take place June 21 to June 24. Early registration is recommended by May 21.
