ODU Celebrates 2009 Homecoming

COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Dominican University community is showing school spirit this week for the 2009 Homecoming Weekend festivities and the Central Ohio community is invited for a variety of events including athletic games, a public lecture on environmental stewardship and many homecoming activities.

All events are on ODU's main campus, 1216 Sunbury Road, 43219 and include:

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7

  • Women's Soccer vs. Madonna University @ 7:00 p.m. in Panther Stadium
  • Student Band Showcase @ 8:00 p.m. in the Griffin Student Center
    Featuring ODU Musicians: Pete Mascio, Kate Clark & Anna Frye, and Mac Arnold.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8

  • Women’s Tennis vs. Ohio Wesleyan University @ 4:00 p.m. in Panther Tennis Courts
  • Volleyball vs. Lake Erie College  @ 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall
  • Public Lecture, "A Call for Stewardship of the Earth," with Patricia Siemen, O.P., JD.
    Siemen is a Dominican Sister from Adrian, Michigan and a civil attorney. She serves as the Director of the Center for Earth Jurisprudence, an initiative c-osponsored by Barry and St. Thomas universities.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9

  • ODU Athletic Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner @ 6:30 p.m.  in the Griffin Student Center
    Joining the Hall of Fame will be Tom Fitzpatrick ’69 (basketball), Mike Hickle ’93 (baseball), Craig Brown ’94 (baseball), Jerry Lanier ’95 (basketball), David Flavius ’99 (soccer), and Michelle Welage-Galloway ’00 (basketball). Click here for background information on the inductees.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

  • Tailgate Party @ 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Gold Parking Lot
    Celebrate the 2009 Homecoming at the annual Tailgate Party! Join alumni, students, and friends of ODU for games, rides, hot dogs and brats, popcorn, cotton candy, balloon animals, caricatures, and special visits from the Columbus Zoo and the CD101 Ice Cream Truck.
  • Pep Rally @ 11:00 a.m. in Gold Parking Lot
    Get ready for the big game with the Panther Marching Band and Cheerleaders!
  • ODU Football Panthers vs. St. Joseph’s College @ 12:30 p.m., Panther Stadium
    General admission tickets can be purchased at the gate: $6 for adults, $3 for children, $4 for seniors. The half-time show will recognize the 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. 
  • Women’s Soccer vs. University of St. Francis (IN) @ 7:00 p.m. in Panther Stadium
