Prior to coming to Ohio Dominican University, Dr. Thistlethwaite was a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo. His research focused primarily on muscle metabolism and efficiency as well as the characteristics of the arteries as it pertains to cardiovascular disease. Dr. Thistlethwaite has received awards for his work in the field and in the classroom and has delivered numerous presentations and professional papers on cardiovascular research and metabolism. His current research focuses on arterial characteristics between sedentary and non-sedentary individuals. Dr. Thistlethwaite came to Ohio Dominican University in 2008 and teaches gross human anatomy, human physiology, exercise physiology, and nutrition and is also the director of the pre-nursing program. He also is the 2013 recipient of Ohio Dominican University's Conley Award, which is presented annually to a professor who excels in teaching and in his or her contribution to the University. The award is voted on by the student body.
