Endowed Scholarships
Ohio Dominican University is proud to partner with the individuals and organizations described below to offer our current and prospective students tuition assistance opportunities. Ohio Dominican’s Office of Financial Aid identifies the recipients of these endowed scholarships. Students do not apply for these awards. For additional information about these scholarships or financial aid in general, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 614-251-4778.

The Albert Benjamin and Kathleen Connolly Fisher Scholarship
For students who have demonstrated financial need and are majoring in one of the science programs with an emphasis on Environmental Science.
The Algirdas A. Vasiliauskas Scholarship
Assists a sophomore, junior or senior.
The Alonzo and Gertrude Granger Scholarship
Assists a student with a demonstrated financial need who is enrolled as an Education major or a student who is working toward a Teacher Certification. Ideally the student will come from a rural area or small town.
The Alumni Scholarship
For a new student from Franklin County; the student may retain the scholarship for four years.
The Andrew, Mary and Margaret Gonda Scholarship
Awarded to outstanding new freshmen or transfers. They may retain the scholarships until graduation.
The Angela and Joseph Marrone Scholarship
Presented to a sophomore, junior or senior student with preference given to students whose parents are deceased.
The Anna Burst Scholarship
Offered to a junior or senior, majoring in Chemistry or Biology. Financial need is not a factor.
The Anna Hayes Ruck Scholarship
For a sophomore, junior or senior who has a demonstrated belief that hard work can bring success and who values a liberal education.
The Arthur D. Herrmann Scholarship
For interested and qualified freshmen who plan to major in Business. This scholarship is renewable until graduation.
The Association of Off-Campus Students Scholarship
Presented to a sophomore, junior or senior commuter student.
Austin E. Knowlton Memorial Scholarship
Supports a resident of Logan County, Ohio, with a preference for freshmen applicants interested in majoring in Mathematics or a related field. If there aren’t resident applicants from Logan County, the scholarship shall support a resident of Ohio, again with a preference for freshmen applicants interested in majoring in Mathematics or a related field. The Battelle Scholarship
Presented to a freshman from Franklin County or a contiguous county who possesses unusual strengths and promise for their selected field of study with consideration for leadership potential.
The Ben T. and Nancy Ray Scholarship
For a student from Southeastern Ohio.
The Benua Foundation Scholarship
Offers financial assistance for juniors or seniors with high academic records and financial need.
The Beth Ruck Staffilino Scholarship
Presented to a sophomore, junior or senior who manifests in an outstanding way, the spirit of Ohio Dominican University.

The Catholic Diocese Scholarship
Awarded to theology graduate students involved in parish ministry or work in the Diocese.
The Charles and Olga Daniel Scholarship
Offers assistance to students with financial need who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and have a permanent home address within Seneca County, Ohio. If no student meets the Seneca County restriction, a student who meets the other criteria may receive this scholarship.
The Connelly / Kelly Science Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to a junior majoring in Science. The recipient is eligible to receive this award for two years.

Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior with a financial need.
The Dominican Sisters Scholarship
Granted to students from poor, disadvantaged or other marginalized background.

The Edna Brown Luzio Endowed Scholarship
Offered to a student who is majoring in Art.
The Edward F. Wagner Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to students from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Eileen Warren Herald Scholarship
Offers financial assistance to a student who is a sophomore, junior or senior. The donors hope the recipient would be willing to contribute to scholarships when they are financially able to provide the same opportunity for future generations of students.
The Elisabeth Federman Cohn Scholarship
For sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in Social Work.
The Elizabeth A. Haren Scholarship
Granted to a current ODU student with a 3.0 grade point average.
The Ernie Gaines Scholarship
Awarded to a black student who is a sophomore, junior or senior.
The Everhart W. Turner, Sr. Scholarship
For interested and qualified juniors and seniors who have declared a major in an area of Math or Science.

Offers financial assistance to a sophomore, junior or senior who has made a positive contribution to college life at ODU.
The Father Hart Scholarship
For a full-time, upper classman male student who best reflects the religious and humanitarian qualities of Father Hart.
Father John Joachim Bauer Scholarship
For an outstanding new student who may retain the scholarship for up to four years.
The Fink Family Endowed Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to eligible students from Perry County, Ohio. If there are no qualified students from Perry County, second consideration will be given to students from Southeast Ohio.
The Florence Chase Memorial Scholarship
For a student from Central Ohio with a financial need.
Fraley Family Scholarship
For students from Columbus.
The Frances Knight Selden Scholarship
Provide assistance to a student with financial need.

GAR/National Endowment for the Humanities Endowment Fund/GAR Scholarship
Helps promising students in need of financial assistance.
The Garry-Dossin Scholarship
Presented to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Philosophy, Religious Studies or Social Studies.
The George Hertrich International Student Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to an international student of any major. Candidates must have an F-1 student status (student visa, international student who is not a permanent resident or U.S. Citizen), be a full-time degree candidate or a continuing education student.
The Grace D. Sackbauer Scholarship
Awards financial assistance to a freshman. This scholarship is renewable his or her sophomore, junior and senior year.
The Graduate Assistance Fund
Offers assistance for graduate tuition.

The Helen Green O'Brien Hefner Scholarship
Presented to a student from Perry County or candidates for the Order of Dominican Sisters of Peace.
The Huntington Bank Scholarship
For students from the State of Ohio, preferably from an urban community; financial need, academic effort, and extracurricular activities – especially those demonstrating leadership potential – will weigh heavily in the selection process. For consideration, students must submit a one- to two-page essay on their plans to use their degree to make a contribution to the community. Qualified recipients will be full-time students maintaining a 2.6 grade point average.

The I-670 Endowed Scholarship
Offered to students who live in the I-670 Corridor – one mile north and south of I-670, between High Street and I-270. The I-670 Endowed Scholarship donors intend to provide three equal scholarships each year.
The Irene Altman Scholarship for Theological Studies
Awarded to students majoring in Theology. Recipients can receive the scholarship up to four years, provided they are making satisfactory progress toward a degree.

The James I. Boulger Scholarship
Awarded to an ODU senior.
The John and Eleanor Matesich Endowed Scholarship
Presented to outstanding freshmen and/or transfer students. This scholarship is renewable for all four years.
The John C. and Victoria A. Bauman Endowed Scholarship
Provided to a student above the age of 35 who is studying in the Library Sciences or Education Division.
The JPMorgan Chase Scholarship
Granted to an entering or continuing minority and/or first-generation student in the JPMorgan Chase Columbus market of Franklin, Delaware, Madison, Pickaway, Licking, Union and Fairfield counties. Students receiving this scholarship will have the ability to succeed in college and have demonstrated leadership and service.

The LEAD Student Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to LEAD students.
The Leo Yassenoff Scholarship
For Columbus, Ohio-area students with financial need; students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or greater.
The Lois K. Sayre and Gertrude Gallagher Scholarship
Awarded to a young woman with financial need.
The Louis Beran Scholarship Endowment Fund
A renewable scholarship for a student enrolled in the Honors Program with a minimum grade point average of 3.5. The student will exemplify the spirit of Louis Beran, a man with a thirst for knowledge and a determination to learn marked by a lifelong habit of comprehensive reading and study.

The Maish Family Business Scholarship
Assists a student who is the member of a family who owns a business or who wishes to start a family business; has maintained at least a “B” average and has a record of charitable work or community involvement; and has demonstrated financial need.
The Margaret G. Fielders Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to an Education major who is or has been enrolled in any of the library and information services courses.
The Margaret Gonda Matesich Mothers Scholarship
For women degree candidates who are mothers of one or more children age 18 or under. Students must be registered for at least eight credit hours during the scholarship semester, maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have financial need.
The Margaret List Wagner Scholarship
For students with financial need who are maintaining an acceptable grade point average. Preferable first choice will be students majoring in Nursing, though consideration will be given to students with Science as a major.
The Mary C. Murphy Endowed Scholarship
For a non-traditional student who has completed at least 24 credit hours at Ohio Dominican University with a 3.0 grade point average. Student should plan on working in the human services profession and be registered for at least eight credit hours.
The Mary C. Zang Scholarship
Offers financial assistance to a student who is an Education major with a focus on Secondary Education in Literature, Communications or Fine Arts.
The Matesich Emerging Leaders Scholarship
Awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors.
The Matthew Matesich Scholarship
For a student who has full financial need; that is, a student for whom the expected family contribution according to financial aid methodology is zero. The recipient should be a first generation college student, preferably from the 43219 ZIP code. The scholarship should go to a promising new student who will retain the scholarship as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
The McDowell Scholarship
Offered to a junior or senior with consideration given toward academic performance, leadership and cooperative loyalty to the mission of the University.
The Memorial Scholarship
Helps a student with 88 or more credit hours who needs financial assistance to complete their last year of college to graduate from Ohio Dominican University.
The Michelle Sagona Memorial Scholarship
A gift from the estate of Edna M. Henninger, a friend of the Sagona Family, in memory of Michelle, daughter of Jim Sagona and Donna Andriot; this scholarship provides financial assistance to continuing students who have demonstrated volunteer service to children or to the elderly.
The Mildred and Harry Wellnitz Scholarship
For students who might otherwise be unable to afford a college education because of financial need.
The Mildred Kennedy Scholarship
Assists an eligible sophomore, junior or senior History major.
The Monsignor Fick Scholarship
Available to an upper classman majoring in English who shows accomplishments and future potential.
The Mother Aloyse Fitzpatrick - Class of 2006 Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to incoming or current students who have shown leadership qualities and have been active in their communities. These qualities and responsibilities must be reflected in their resume and highlighted in essay format to be considered for this award. Athletic participation, although not a requirement, will be considered along with other criteria.

The Ohio Dominican University Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund
Provides tuition assistance, in the form of a grant, to be awarded to financially needy incoming freshman or transfer students who meet the academic standards, or to current full-time students who maintain a 2.50 grade point average.

The Patriots Scholarship
Offers financial assistance to veterans.
The Petrucci-Galloway Family Scholarship
Supports an American born student who is a single mother in serious financial need, has been enrolled at the University for at least one academic year, has demonstrated her ability as a serious student, has the intellectual ability and drive necessary to complete a four-year degree program and who is at risk of leaving the University due to financial hardship.
The Phoenix Society Scholarship
Assists a non-traditional student.
Pius XII Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in a Social Science, including History.
PNC Endowed Scholarship at Ohio Dominican University
Supports a freshmen student with financial need. The qualified recipient will seek Business or Business-related major, broadly defined to include Communication, Public Relations or others. The recipient can continue to receive this scholarship until graduation provided they maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Provides financial assistance to a sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in Business.
The Reutinger Family Scholarship
Assists Education majors with financial need who are in good standing.
The Richard and Marie Monahan Connell Scholarship
Offered to a sophomore, junior or senior.
The Robert Franz Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to an Education major.
The Robert J. Weiler Scholarship
Offers financial assistance to an incoming freshman or transfer student. The recipient should be from a minority or disadvantaged background from the Columbus Public Schools with the potential to succeed in college.
The Rosemary Owens Bole and George A. Bole Scholarship
Presented to a junior or senior majoring in Biology or French.

The Sansbury Women’s Leadership Scholarship
Financially supports a female student with demonstrated leadership potential. The Sansbury Women’s Leadership Scholarship honors the first Dominican sister in the United States, Mother Angela Sansbury.
Schwirian, Kent & Patricia Scholarship Endowment Fund
Awarded to students, freshman through senior, who are majoring in Education. The award may be renewable up to four years, assuming the student has made satisfactory progress toward a degree.
The Sister Estelle Casalandra Scholarship
Given to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in English.
The Sister Eugene DeCleene Scholarship
Assists students in good academic standing who have completed 16 semester hours of Art with at least a 3.0 grade point average.
The Sister Mary McElroy Scholarship
Provides financial assistance through grants and scholarships to students in unusual circumstances of financial stress both in starting and continuing their education.
The Sister Rose Dominica Hanks Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in one of the Sciences, preferably Chemistry.
The Sister Suzanne Uhrhane Endowed Scholarship
For children and grandchildren of alumnae and alumni. This scholar is named in honor of the former college president, Sister Suzanne Uhrhane, O.P., Ph.D.

Supports sophomores, juniors or seniors, majoring in Education of people with mental illnesses.
Tighe-Magnuson Scholarship
Awarded to a student from Knox County, Ohio, with financial need.
The Trustee Endowed Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to a student from Columbus, Ohio, with financial need.

The William and Margaret Schachtele Scholarship
Makes available financial assistance to a freshman. This scholarship is renewable for the sophomore, junior and senior years.
The William and Mildred Connick Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to a junior or senior student who has a minimum 3.3 grade point average with a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate research in the Natural Science field. Preference is given to students conducting an ongoing research project.
The William R. Mnich Scholarship
For a freshman who reflects William Mnich’s dedication to hard work and perseverance as a road to success. The applicant must be interested in majoring in Communications or in a combined major of Communications and a complementary field. The scholarship is renewable for sophomore, junior and senior years.
The William Randolph Hearst Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to minority students.
