When should I apply for financial aid?
You can apply for financial aid anytime. However, we recommend students meet with an enrollment counselor, apply to the program and then apply for financial aid.
How long does it take to apply for financial aid?
The process from start to finish can take as few as 3-4 days.
How is my financial aid eligibility determined?
Eligibility for most types of aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Financial need is calculated using a cost of attendance, your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and financial resources.
What types of aid are available?
Undergraduate students in the LEAD Program may qualify for the Federal Pell Grant, the Ohio College Opportunity Grant, the Military Discount, and Federal Student Loans. Graduate students in the LEAD Program may qualify for the Alumni Scholarship, the Military Discount and Federal Student Loans.
When will I know about my financial aid eligibility?
We will send you an award letter via your ODU e-mail account after you attend your first night of class. However, upon request we can send you an estimate of your financial aid eligibility as soon as we have a valid FAFSA on file and you have been admitted to the program.
How can I request an estimate of my financial aid eligibility?
You can request an estimate by contacting your enrollment counselor or the LEAD Financial Aid Office.
How often do I need to apply for financial aid?
All students must reapply for financial aid every year by completing a FAFSA. We recommend you complete the FAFSA after you have filed your Federal Tax Return.
