"My favorite part of being an Enrollment Counselor is helping potential students take that first step! For a lot of adult students thinking about going back to school, that initial step is so hard to take. They are afraid that they won’t fit in; some feel they are too old, or they have been out of school too long to learn. However, having been an adult student in a non-traditional degree program provides me with insight that I can share to help alleviate any fears and anxieties they may be experiencing. I identify with the needs and concerns of my students and can truthfully assure them that not only is their education important to me, but as an individual, they are equally as important. Therefore I am constantly striving to improve my own personal processes to best serve my students throughout the application procedure.  

At LEAD our students are working adults looking to improve their lives through education and I am happy to help them realize their educational dreams. My successful “been there, done that” has and will continue to be one of encouragement and reassurance as put so aptly by Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them”. When I follow up with my students after they have attended class a couple of times, the greatest compliment that I can get is a simple “thank you for being there”; because then I know that I’ve helped another person move past whatever may have been holding them back and on toward what is waiting for them!"
