International Student Graduate Admissions
Applicants must have or will have completed a baccalaureate degree from a university and submit their final university transcripts by the time they enter the program at Ohio Dominican. Undergraduate cumulative GPA of a 3.0/4.0 or higher will be recommended for admission. Applicants with GPA’s lower than 3.0 may be considered for conditional admission. All application materials must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions two months before the semester begins.
International Student Graduate Application Checklist
International applicants must complete all of the required application materials listed for their specific program and must also submit the following materials in order to be considered for admission:
- Application form. Students applying to Graduate programs must fill out a paper application--no online form is offered. Please make sure this is filled out carefully and completely. The $25 non-refundable application fee can be made in the form of personal check or money order made payable to Ohio Dominican University. The application can be downloaded and printed from ODU's Graduate Admissions website.
- Official Transcripts. Applicants should submit to World Evaluation Services (WES) all official academic transcripts/records from the last academic institution(s) that they have attended any university if that institution was outside of the US. For more information, please visit: www.wes.org.
- Proof of English Proficiency for those whose first language is not English. ODU accepts the following:
- Completion of ELS Level 112 intensive program. For more information, please visit: http://www.els.edu/columbus.
- Official TOEFL score of at least 550 (79- internet based). ODU Institutional TOEFL code is 1131.
- Official IELTS band score of at least 6.5.
- Personal Statement. Write a personal statement at least 250 words in length describing your personal and educational goals
and how you hope ODU will help you reach them.
- Declaration and Certification of Finances Form. The financial sponsor and guarantor of the applicant must complete this. An I-20 cannot be issued without the completed form as well as evidence of financial support.
- Evidence of Financial Support. Evidence that the applicant’s financial guarantor has funds available for at least the first year must also be submitted.
- International Student Advisor Report Form. This form is only for those applicants who are currently in F-1 status at another institution in the US, either studying or in optional practical training (OPT). This form is used to verify that your current school will be transferring your immigration (SEVIS) record to ODU so that we can issue you and I-20. Contact the International Office for further details.
- Recommendations. Please forward three (3) completed recommendation forms attached with three (3) recommendation letters from individuals who can address your academic potential. At least one reference should be academic. Graduate Recommendation Forms may be downloaded from the Ohio Dominican University Graduate Admissions website.
Financial Aid
There is no institutional aid for Graduate students at Ohio Dominican. Students will need to seek funding through outside organizations.
