Why Choose ODU for your Social Work Degree?

The ODU Social Work program mission mirrors the historical roots of social work with its concern for affecting social and economic justice with, and on behalf of, vulnerable groups of people.

In selecting field placement opportunities for students, the program draws upon the rich resources of social service agencies located in Central Ohio that serve a wide range of client populations confronting different life challenges.

Careful attention is given to students’ requests in regard to placement settings and client populations. Given the high number of professionally educated social workers practicing in social service settings throughout the Central Ohio area, we are able to require that field instructors have the MSW credential.
