One of the best ways to find out about a career is to interview someone who works in the field. Gear questions toward filling in gaps in your understanding and clarifying the perceptions you already have about the career. 

Shadowing
Shadowing allows you to observe the position and the worksite firsthand. This practice will give you a good taste of what it will be like to hold a job in a particular field.
