• Focus Groups

The Focus Group process was designed to allow a small group of 5-7 program faculty to channel their energies around student learning outcome assessment across an academic year. The intent is to meet the program faculty where they are with regard to assessment and to move them forward. The meetings offer faculty the time to work on reviewing the essential components of outcomes assessment in their programs to include: mission statement, student learning outcomes, outcome assessment measures, course/outcome matrix, and assessment results. The focus groups meet a minimum of 2 times during the academic year to introduce the process and afford time to work together in a collaborative environment. Deliverables at the close of the process include a 5 year program assessment plan, a review of the essential components with changes as needed, results in assessing at least one student learning outcome that year, and a poster presentation summarizing the work.
